French police arrested six suspected members of Turkey's militant group, the outlawed Kurdistan Workers Party (PKK), on Tuesday under a probe into the outlawed organisation's financing, judicial and police sources said.
The six were arrested in or near the southern city of Marseille on orders from anti-terrorist judge Thierry Fragnoli. They can be held for questioning in Marseille for up to 96 hours under French anti-terrorism laws.
Turkey has urged European countries to more actively pursue PKK cells on their patch.
Last month the PKK denied responsibility for a suicide bomb attack in Istanbul that wounded 32 people and said it was extending a ceasefire until Turkey's 2011 general election.
