At least French six soldiers were injured on Wednesday morning when a vehicle drove into them in the Levallois-Perret suburb in northwest Paris, according to media reports.

French police said they were looking into the incident and a manhunt is underway.

Two of the six injured soldiers are said to be in a serious condition, BFMTV broadcaster reported.

Patrick Balkany, the mayor of the suburb, told the French broadcaster the perpetrator struck the soldiers deliberately at Place de Verdunclose near the town hall.

The soldiers targeted in the incident were part of Operation Sentinelle - a nationwide security operation aimed at “protecting against and dissuading” attacks on French soil.

France has been on high alert with enhanced security measures in the wake of deadly terror attacks over the last two years.
