Greece to hold referendum on bailout deal on July 5

World Bulletin / News Desk

Greek PM Alexis Tsiparas has announced that the bailout proposal is a 'humiliation' and noted that this one and the previous proposals violate equality and dignity as well as generally accepted European rules and basic rights.

By June 30 Greece has to repay its €1.5 billion IMF debt, the IMF is pushing Greece for more spending cuts, however Greek government refuses to do so.

Tsiparas stated, "Right now, we bear an historic responsibility concerning ... the future of our country. And this responsibility obliges us to answer ultimatum based on the sovereign will of the Greek people." As well as urged people to vote 'no' if one reads between the lines, probably because the 'yes' win would mean that current Greek PM should resign from his office.
