Greek Cypriot leader Demetris Christofias has revealed details over a three-article proposal package he presented to the Turkish Cypriot side in peace talks aimed at reunifying the divided island of Cyprus.
A state-run Greek Cypriot radio network reported that Christofias proposed to handle the issues of properties, territory and Turkey-originated Turkish Cypriot citizens under a single heading.
According to the report, Christofias demands handover of the closed Maras area to the Greek Cypriots as well as the opening of the Gazimagusa port to international trade under the European Union supervision.
The Greek Cypriot leader also proposed the gathering of an international conference by the United Nations over the issues guarantees, security and the existence of foreign troops.
The Greek Cypriot radio cited Christofias as describing his package "realistic, balanced and feasible."
