A Manchester United and England player has apologised for his “insensitive decision” to dress as a suicide bomber at a costume party.
A picture of Chris Smalling dressed as a suicide bomber was released on the front page of the Thursday edition of the Sun.
The picture shows the player with a circuit board attached to a mobile phone with wires leading up his chest to bottles of Jagermeister and cans of Redbull, whilst also wearing a Saudi style red and black kaffiyeh head dress.
His spokesperson told the Associated Press that Smalling had worn the costume at a party attended by close friends at his home. The Wasserman Media Group said in a statement to the Associated Press, "Although he fully accepts in hindsight it was an ill-thought out and insensitive decision, absolutely no harm was intended whatsoever and he apologizes for any offense caused."
Smalling’s club has declined to comment.Güncelleme Tarihi: 09 Ocak 2014, 13:21
