Four senior members of Turkey's far-left militant DHKP-C group who were arrested in Greece last week will be defended it court by the lawyer of Kurdish separatist PKK leader Abdullah Ocalan.
Turkey's daily Hurriyet stated that Yiannis Rahiotis, Ocalan’s Greek lawyer, has been appointed to the cases of Huseyin Fevzi Tekin, Ismail Akkol, Bilgehan Karpat and Mehmet Ali Yilmaz, who were arrested along with two other wanted DHKP-C members in Athens on February 10.
The group, who were claiming to be Syrian refugees living in Greece, were found to have weapons in their home which they were planning to use in attacks against Turkey, according to a confession made by Akkol on Friday.
Rahiotis has previously defended the jailed PKK leader Abdullah Ocalan in a case launched against the Greek government by Ocalan for the role it played in his capture in 1999.
