Poland has rejected National Security Agency (NSA) leaker Edward Snowden's asylum request while some European officials said that he could not apply for asylum from abroad.

The website WikiLeaks said Snowden, who is allegedly believed to be at a transit area of a Russian airport, asked for asylum in 21 countries including 13 in Europe.

However, many European countries state an asylum request needs to be made on their soil.

Poland's Foreign Minister Radek Sikorski also confirmed that they rejected Snowden's asylum request.
