Turkish Republic of Northern Cyprus (TRNC) FM Ozdil Nami said on Friday that the negotiations on Cyprus issue is expected to start in October and they would hold a referendum concerning the issue in March 2014, speaking to Anadolu Agency following his visit to New York.
“We hope that our people will say “yes” in the referendum,” added the Northern Cyprus FM Nami.
FM Nami, referring to the solution of Cyprus, said that the thing to be in Cyprus is a federal government based on the equality of two founding states, that is, a new state where there is not a hierarchy between the two compounds.
“The addressee of Greek Cypriots are Turkish Cypriots instead of Turkey. If they are to address to Ankara they should know that they are going to disappoint," added Nami.
Nami underlined that Turkish Cyprus would not accept the idea of confederation with a structure constituted by two states cooperating on certain issues.Güncelleme Tarihi: 04 Ekim 2013, 14:07
