A small plane with 10 passengers and two crew on board crashed in heavy fog on the runway at Cork Airport in southern Ireland on Thursday, the Irish Aviation Authority (IAA) said.
Local media, citing the local county council, said six people had been killed in the crash.
No one from Cork County Council was immediately avabilable to confirm the reports.
The IAA said metroliner SW4, which was en route from Belfast in Northern Ireland, had crashed after making several attempts at landing.
Flights are currently being diverted from Cork airport. Rescue crews are trying to put out a fire on the runway and debris has been scattered over a wide area.
