Switzerland extended its list of sanctions imposed on Russia on Tuesday, the Swiss Secretariat for Economic Affairs said in a statement.

The Federal Department of Economic Affairs added a further 13 individuals and 5 organizations to the list of those subject to measures to prevent the circumvention of international sanctions imposed because of the situation in Ukraine, the statement said.

The measures come into force at 6 p.m. local time (1700GMT) on Dec. 16, 2014, the statement said.

These names and organizations have been added to the existing list of persons and companies with whom financial intermediaries are prohibited from entering into new business relationships, and whose existing business dealings are subject to a duty to notify, the statement said.

About 75 percent of Russian crude oil exports were traded through Geneva in 2012, and Swiss banks have held almost $15.2 billion of Russian assets in that year, Swiss National Bank statistics indicated.
