The Swiss government has no plans to implement EU sanctions on Russia, Swiss economy minister said on Sunday.

Speaking to Swiss Sunday newspaper, Schweiz am Sonntag, Johann Schneider-Ammann said Switzerland which holds the chairmanship of the Organization for Security and Co-operation in Europe (OSCE), is mediator in talks between Russia and Ukraine. He said that imposing sanctions on Russia would undermine its role.

Reuters reports that around 75 percent of Russian crude oil exports are traded through Geneva, according to the Swiss government, and Russian assets in Swiss banks stood at nearly 13.8 billion francs ($15.2 billion) in 2012, according to the Swiss National Bank.
