Turkish Cyprus says sovereignty still on table in Greek talks

Special envoy of the Turkish Cypriot President, Kudret Ozersay, said parties did not agree over the source of sovereignty and how it would be exercised by founding states.

Ozersay who spoke to Turkish Agency-Cyprus on Thursday said: "What really matters is how these concepts will be defined. How will the sovereignty rest on two peoples, in other words what is the source of sovereignty, how will it be exercised by the founding states? These issue are not clearly understood yet."

He said finding a lasting solution and establishing a sustainable partnership was their priority.

"As the Turkish Cypriot side we want to carry the process under the UN parameters further and try to conclude the process if the Greek Cypriot side does it the same way," said Ozersay.

He said the Turkish Cypriot President was determined to discuss in detail all the topics and carry the process further.
