The terror threat level in the U.K. has been reduced from critical to severe, Prime Minister Theresa May announced Saturday.
"A significant amount of police activity has taken place in the last 24 hours and there are now 11 suspects in custody," May said in a statement.
"In light of these developments, JTAC - the Joint Terrorism Analysis Centre - has taken the decision to reduce the level from critical to severe," she added.
The deployment of army personnel for extra security as part of strict measures introduced in the aftermath of Monday's bomb attack in Manchester will continue until the end of bank holiday on Monday.
The threat level was upgraded to critical on Tuesday following the suicide bomb attack at Manchester Arena which killed 22 people and injured more than 60 others.
22-year-old Salman Abedi remains the main suspect in the attack.
The "severe" level means a terror threat is highly likely but not imminent as the "critical" level suggests.
