As many as 11 more ISIL suspects have been detained over the series of suicide bombings that targeted Istanbul's Atatürk Airport, leaving 44 people dead and 239 others wounded.

The raid came early on Friday, on an alleged cell house, in Başakşehir district of Istanbul.

The suspects who were detained during the operation in Kayaşehir were reported to be foreign nationals.

A Russian-origin extrem suspect, among 11 extremists, attempted to flee the operation scene was but was captured by police.

The suspects were taken to the Istanbul Police Department's Anti-extremism Branch.

The most recent attack hit Istanbul's Atatürk Airport as three suicide bombers detonated themselves at different points, killing 44 people and wounding 239 others.

The attack targeting airport followed the attack comes just two weeks after a bomb blast hit a police vehicle in Istanbul's central Beyazıt area.

Seven police officers and four civilians were killed in that attack and 36 others wounded.

Security forces have been fighting against several extremist groups that have been targeting Turkey, particularly ISIL, Kurdistan Workers' Party (PKK) and its affiliated extrem groups.
