Forty-two people were injured -- two seriously -- when a bus en route to İstanbul overturned near the Koyulhisar district of Sivas.

The bus was reportedly carrying passengers from Azerbaijan and Iğdır to İstanbul when it overturned due to snow and ice on the road. Forty-two passengers, including Azerbaijani citizens, were injured in the accident. Ambulances were immediately mobilized to the area and the injured taken to Suşehri State Hospital. The two seriously injured passengers were later transferred to the Sivas State Hospital.

A 5-month-old baby, Eyüp Taha Cihan, was also among the injured. He was hospitalized along with his mother, Huriye Cihan.

Musa Şahnar, the driver of the bus, said they had stopped at a roadside restaurant in Suşehri just before the accident. He said he lost control of the bus due to ice on the road. The bus was moving at around 60 kilometers per hour, he said, and he could not prevent the accident. "Thank God we did not roll over on the shoulder of the highway," he said.
