Australian Naval Forces Commander Adm. Russell Crane on Monday met with his Turkish counterpart Ugur Yigit.
Crane was welcomed with a full military honors at the Turkish Naval Forces headquarters in the Turkish capital, Ankara.
Speaking at the meeting, Turkish Naval Forces Commander Yigit said despite physical distance, relations between the two countries were "warm and sincere", adding that bonds between the two nations were formed during the Gallipoli offensive in the First World War.
The visiting commander said on his part that it was a great honor for the Australians to be in Turkey for the commemoration of the anniversary of the Canakkale battles.
