Six bodies of PKK extremists have been found inside a house in Turkey's southeastern Sirnak province Wednesday.

According to a police source, who wished not to be named due to restrictions on talking to the media, police teams raided a house close to the state hospital after complaints were received about strong stench coming from inside.

Police found six bodies, along with 12 AK-47s, a machine gun, 14 grenades and documents belonging to the extremist group PKK.

The bodies were sent to the state hospital for autopsies.

Operations against the PKK in Sirnak have been concluded, however, a curfew remains in place as anti-extremist police and special operation teams search the city for explosives left behind by extremists.

The PKK is listed as a extremist organization by Turkey, the U.S. and EU, which resumed its 30-year armed campaign against the Turkish state in July 2015.

Since then, PKK extremist attacks have martyred more than 600 security personnel and also claimed the lives of many civilians, including women and children, while more than 7,000 PKK extremists have also been killed in army operations.
