Egypt daily uses altered photo for accusing Turkey

World Bulletin/News Desk

Egypt's semi-official Al-Ahram newspaper has used an altered picture to back-up a false story over seizure of Turkish weapons at the Egyptian port city of Alexandria.

The original version of the picture -- as used by the Omani media outlets -- was taken during the seizure of the cache of weapons at Oman's Sahara Port last month and Omani troops are clearly visible in the photo. The Al-Ahram version, however, is altered so as to crop out the Omani troops.

Following the July 3 military coup in Egypt, Al-Ahram has also printed a photo of weapons which had been impounded by security forces in Pakistan and the daily associated it with a report on alleged seizure of weapons from the Muslim Brotherhood.
