European medical society honored a Turkish professor with membership on Wednesday.

Prof. Dr. Metin Onerci, a lecturer at the Otorhinolaryngology Department of Ankara's Hacettepe University, received honorary membership from the European Rhinologic Society.

Onerci got the honorary membership for his contributions to rhinology, and is the youngest scientist ever to receive this title.

Graduating from Hacettepe University's Faculty of Medicine and taking his expertise degree at the same university, Onerci has published more than 250 articles so far.

Onerci has 15 books published in Turkey, and three others published abroad.

Professor Onerci was also among the limited number of scientists the European Rhinologic Society invited around the world to prepare a report on sinus and nasal tumors.

The professor is actually the secretary general of the International Rhinologic Society.
Founded in Leiden, the Netherlands in 1963 by Van Dishoeck, the European Rhinologic Society provides a forum for the exchange of experience among specialists, interested in rhinology, allergology, related facial plastic surgery and other fields. This goal is achieved by biannual congresses, held in cooperation with the International Symposium on Infection and Allergy of the Nose (ISIAN), by accredited courses, fellowships and awards.
