First Mediterranean Wrestling Championship kicks off in Turkey

The First Mediterranean Wrestling Championship kicked off in Istanbul on Friday.

Around 150 wrestlers from 16 Mediterranean littoral countries participate in the Graeco-Roman and free wrestling competitions to last at Ahmet Comert Sports Hall for three days.

Thirty-seven wrestlers, including 28 men and 9 women, are representing Turkey in the championship.

Six Turkish wrestlers qualified for finals on the first day of the championship.

Ersin Cetin of Turkey was ranked the first in 60 kg category. The second and third will become definite at the end of a match between Abdi Zurnaci of Turkey and a Syrian wrestler this evening.

The women's tournament will take place on Saturday, and Graeco-Roman competitions will be held on Sunday.
