A small civilian plane crashed in the Turkish capital, Ankara, after hitting power lines, killing the pilot and wounding the co-pilot, local authorities said.

The Cessna 170 plane crashed into the garden of a house in the Esenboga suburb, close to Ankara's international airport with no report of casualties on the ground.

The co-pilot was rushed to a nearby hospital with serious injuries.

The plane was registered to an Istanbul-based aviation club.
