Police probes bomb threat on Turkish Airlines

A bomb threat on a Turkish Airlines (THY) passenger plane that came from Lefkosa to Istanbul on Sunday is being investigated at Istanbul's Ataturk Airport but no explosives were found and no arrests were made.

A short time after the plane took off from Ercan Airport in Lefkosa, a cabin attendant of the Airbus 319 THY plane found a note claiming there was a bomb on board and would explode in 45 minutes.

The plane landed at Istanbul's Ataturk Airport safely and its 105 passengers and crew were evacuated.

After the plane was swiftly emptied and searched together with the baggage, the threat was found to be a hoax but police are investigating in a bid to ascertain who was responsible for the note.
