Turkish Minister of Environment and Forestry, Veysel Eroglu, said Friday the struggle against global climate change was extremely crucial.
There are forest fires, great natural disasters and floods taking place in the world.
We need to take precautionary measures, Eroglu said.
Speaking to reporters while welcoming Mexican Secretary of Foreign Relations Patricia Espinosa to his office, Eroglu said that he was pleased to see the Mexican delegation in Ankara.
The Turkish government wishes to develop cooperation with Mexico, Eroglu said.
The activities between Mexico and our ministry increased since the Fourth World Water Forum in Mexico, Eroglu said.
A conference on climate change will take place in Mexico at the end of 2010. We, as Turkey, are ready to extend all information and support to Mexico for this conference, Eroglu stressed.
Minister Espinosa, in her part, said that they paid high attention to the environment and climate change.
We have noticed the importance Turkey attached to the environment and climate change. My delegation will brief Eroglu on our works regarding the environment, Espinosa said.
Turkey and Mexico can work together at an international platform against climate change, Espinosa also said.
Turkish Foreign Minister Ahmet Davutoglu will host a dinner in honor of Espinosa later on Friday.
