Heavy snowfall caused a halt Monday in maritime transportation on Canakkale Strait (the Dardanelles), a narrow waterway that connects the Aegean Sea with Marmara Sea.
Officials of the Turkish vessel traffic authority said that the strait was closed to traffic due to poor visibility caused by heavy snowfall.
Vessels are kept waiting at northern and southern mouths, officials said.
