The results of the Undergraduate Placement Examination (LYS) were announced on Monday, with the top scorer from the western province of İzmir.
Ali Demir, president of the Student Selection and Placement Center (ÖSYM), which administers the exam, announced the results and top scorers at the Higher Education Board's (YÖK) headquarters in Ankara.
He announced that four questions -- two from chemistry and two from mathematics -- have been cancelled and a total of 831,570 students took the exam. Unlike previous years, the ÖSYM did not make public the provinces with the highest-achieving test-takers.
Fatih Aslan from İzmir Science High School, who received 500 points by answering all the questions correctly, became the top scorer of the exam. Aslan expressed his feelings as such: “First of all I am so happy; it is great that my dreams came true. I want to thank those, my family and teachers, who supported me.”
