Turkish security forces have confiscated 15.4 tons of hashish in total belonging to the PKK organization in an operation staged in the south-eastern province of Diyarbakir.
The operation conducted by Turkish Gendarmery and commandos on Wednesday and Thursday, was supported by 13-soldier teams and seven Sikorsky helicopters in the rural area of Dibek village of Lice town in Diyarbakir.
During the operation, 15.4 tons of hashish in total was confiscated belonging to the PKK organization.
Speaking to reporters on Friday, Governor of Diyarbakir Mustafa Toprak said that the street value of hashish was around 17 million Turkish Liras.
"The operation was conducted to make ineffective the terrorist members, strike blow on the source of income of the terrorists and we achieved to strike a blow on their major source of income," said Toprak.
Five people were detained in connection with the haul.
