World Bulletin / News Desk

Turkey says it will deport a Russian female detained while allegedly trying to enter Syria to join the ISIL militant group.

Varvara Karaulova, a student, was initially detained in the southern Kilis province on the Turkish-Syrian border on Friday, June 5. She was sent to Istanbul this morning.

She appeared in Istanbul concealing her face with a headscarf to prevent press members from taking her picture. Karaulova will be flown from Istanbul Ataturk Airport to Moscow.

Thousands of foreign fighters from all over the world are believed to have joined armed organizations, including ISIL, in Syria and Iraq.

Turkey shares an 800 kilometer-long border with Syria.
