Turkish Minister of Environment and Urbanization Erdogan Bayraktar on Tuesday said they have put 409 projects worth 500 million Turkish Liras into effect to protect the biodiversity and ecosystem in Turkey.
Bayraktar attended the Informal European Union Council of Environment Ministers meeting as part of his Lithuania visit.
Lithuania's Minister of Environment Valentinas Mazuronis delivered the opening remarks at the meeting where environmental ministers of 30 states alongside 8 members from the EU Parliament and 12 delegations from Lithuanian government attended.
Also delivering a speech at the meeting, Bayraktar emphasized Turkey has put 409 projects into effect worth 500 miillion Turkish Liras to protect biodiversity and ecosystem.
"Europe requires the biodiversity of Turkey, who possesses the ecosystem with the highest quality of biodiversity of Europe, to fight against the unwanted effects of climate change. Protecting the common heritage of the world and ensuring the continuity of the lives of upcoming generations is among Turkey's most important targets," Bayraktar added.
