U.S.-based Turkish congregational leader Fethullah Gulen has had his special green passport cancelled by the Turkish authorities after it was revealed he obtained it via deceitful means.
Fethullah Gulen was granted the green passport in 1990 and used it to migrate to the U.S. in 1999. The passport is only given to diplomatic staff and is recognized internationally to allow Turkish officials the right to enter countries without requiring visas.
However, as Gulen does not hold any academic qualifications beyond the level of primary education, he was never qualified to be granted diplomatic status and thus hold such a passport.
A former ally of the ruling Justice and Development Party (AK Party), Fethullah Gulen is accused of leading a so called 'parallel state' set up to undermine the Turkish government.
The 'parallel state', a term coined by the Turkish Prime Minister Recep Tayyip Erdogan, is believed to be at the center of a wiretapping scandal across the country, in which hundreds of thousands of Turkish citizens including government ministers had their phone conversations recorded and leaked to the internet.
Fethullah Gulen has been living in the U.S. since migrating there in 1999, where he heads the Hizmet Movement.

Super efficiency, it took them 14 years and a series of corruption allegations implicating the PM himself to find out that he fraudulently acquired his passport. Get real.
