Turkey will close a part of its air space on Tuesday due to a volcanic ash cloud.
Turkish State Airports Administration (DHMI) released a statement and said it would close its air space up to 20,000 feet over the Canakkale Strait and Thrace for four hours as of 3 p.m. as the ash cloud caused by a volcanic eruption in Iceland would affect Turkish air space.
The ash cloud has started to affect the Athens-Sofia-Istanbul FIR (flight international region) today.
Also, the Canakkale Airport will be closed to traffic.
European countries closed their air space on April 14 due to a giant ash cloud caused by a volcanic eruption in Iceland, leading to flight cancellations in the majority of the continent. The air traffic turned back to normal on April 22.
