Turkey is to host next year’s UNESCO World Heritage Committee, the country’s Foreign Ministry said on Wednesday.
The committee decided to host its next session in Istanbul between July 10 and 20, the ministry said in a statement. Gurcan Turkoglu, Turkey’s UNESCO ambassador, will preside.
Last weekend, the UN’s cultural organization added the ancient city of Ephesus in western Turkey and Diyarbakir fortress and Hevsel gardens in Turkey's southeast to its world heritage list.
