Turkish State Minister and Chief Negotiator for EU talks Egemen Bagis and former Belgian Prime Minister Jean-Luc Dehaene came together with the Turkish graduates of European College in Ankara on Friday.
The ceremony that brought Bagis and Dehaene together with Turkish graduates took place at the residence of the Belgian Embassy in Ankara. The ceremony was also attended by the Head of the EU Delegation in Turkey Ambassador Marc Pierini and other dignitaries.
Speaking at the ceremony, Egemen Bagis said that during a visit to Belgium he had a chance to visit the European College and was very impressed by the school.
There are only two Turkish students currently studying at the European College. Next year, thanks to scholarships from the private sector, there will be 13 Turkish students studying at the European College. These students will be hired by the Turkish private sector once they return to Turkey, Bagis said.
I am sure that we will win the minds and hearts of 70 million Turks and 490 million Europeans. The EU is a project of peace and Turkey is a part of it, Bagis underlined.
Touching on the upcoming May 9th Europe Day, Bagis said that the day will be celebrated with various activities in Ankara.
