Turkey's Galatasaray to open new stadium

Turkish soccer club Galatasaray's new stadium in Istanbul, "Ali Sami Yen Sports Complex Turk Telekom Arena", will be inaugurated on Saturday.

Galatasaray and Dutch Ajax team will play a friendly game at 8:45 p.m. on Saturday in the new stadium.

Turk Telekom Arena has 52,647 spectators capacity, and it is one of the most technological and authentic sports complexes of Turkey.

"The stadium has the 2016 criteria of FIFA and UEFA," says Galatasaray's President Adnan Polat about the stadium.

Turk Telekom Arena has a parking lot with a capacity of 4,500 vehicles as well as VIP entrances, VIP halls and private entrance ways.

Unlike many stadiums in the world, Turk Telekom Arena was built on a rough terrain in Seyrantepe district, instead of a flat terrain which makes the stadium one of the special projects of the world. The stadium's architect is Mete Arat.

Turkish Prime Minister Recep Tayyip Erdogan is expected to attend the inauguration ceremony of the stadium.

Ceremonies at the stadium will begin at 6:00 p.m. on Saturday with the concert of Turkish singer Kenan Dogulu.

The doors of the stadium will be opened at 2:00 p.m.

Galatasaray's previous stadium Ali Sami Yen has been serving the club for 47 years.
