Turkey's national airliner launched flights to the Montenegrin capital on Thursday, a company statement said.
Turkish Airlines (THY) will operate direct flights from Istanbul to Podgorica three times a week, on Tuesdays, Thursdays and Sundays.
Thus, the number of THY's international destinations rose to 126.
A return ticket between Istanbul and Podgorica will cost 212 Euro and above, including taxes and duties, till September 24, 2010 within the framework of a promotion campaign.
Based in Istanbul, Turkish Airlines is one of the fastest growing and prosperous airlines in the world. It carries approximately 25 million passengers a year, with direct flights to 126 international and 37 domestic destinations.
The airline was founded in 1933 with a fleet of five airplanes that carried a total of 28 passengers. The airline made its first domestic flight in 1933 and the first international flight in 1947.
THY posted 389 million Euro of profit in 2009, becoming one of the companies following Air China and Ryan Air in the world that recorded the highest profit in 2009.
The airliner carried 6.2 million passengers in the first quarter of 2010. The number of business class and transit passengers in international lines was up 32 and 37 percent respectively in the mentioned period.
