Turkey's Deputy Prime Minister Bulent Arinc said on Tuesday that a new draft bill restructuring the existing media law would give more scope for internet media.
One of the most senior voices in the Turkish cabinet, Arinc said the draft bill would grant workers employed in internet-based news outlets more social security rights.
The draft will give online news websites a legal framework and allow their workers to acquire press cards, Arinc said.
Earlier in the day, the Turkish parliament's justice commission opened a debate on the draft.
It regulates publication of denials and refutations, requiring them to be published for a week on a given website in response to claims of libel or disinformation.
It also allows for official announcements and advertising to be published online.Güncelleme Tarihi: 30 Nisan 2014, 09:31
