More than a thousand warheads were seized in southern Adana province during an illicit drug operation, said local officials on Thursday.

Governor of Adana Huseyin Avni Cos said 1,200 rocket warheads were seized while searching a truck over a tip off.

“The investigation is still going on” said the governor, “we know that warheads weren’t to be used in Turkey. There is various intelligence, but nothing certain over where and how they would be used."

Cos did not declare any detainees since all the details regarding the issue are being investigated.

Governor Cos also stated that there was no other ammunition seized in the operation but warheads. “We are investigating the warhead’s place of manufacture and some of them might be manufactured in Turkey” said the governor, “it is possible that the machinery for warheads was provided from another country”.
