U.S. vice chairman of the joint chiefs of staff departs from Turkey

U.S. Vice Chairman of the Joint Chiefs of Staff Admiral James Winnefeld departed from Turkey after completing a two-day visit.

U.S. Embassy in Ankara stated on Wednesday that Adm. Winnefeld was the guest of the Deputy Chief of Turkish General Staff Gen. Hulusi Akar.

During the course of his visit, Adm. Winnefeld also met with Turkish Under Secretary of Foreign Affairs Feridun Sinirlioglu to discuss mutual defense-related issues and participated in a roundtable discussion with Turkish university and academic leaders.

Admiral Winnefeld serves as Vice Chairman of the Joint Chiefs of Staff, a member of the Joint Chiefs of Staff and the second-highest ranking military officer of the United States of America.
