Netherlands based international humanitarian aid foundation Cordaid provides aid for Netherlands, fighting against the rise of continuing poverty.
Cordaid, which is active in places such as Africa and Afghanistan, stated Wednesday they started to support the projects to fight against poverty in Netherlands.
In last 20 years, the poverty rate in the country increased to 10% from 4% parallel to the economic crisis, Cordaid stated and added they supported some active humanitarian aid projects fighting against poverty in Hague, Breda and Arnhem regions at the first stage.
Another institution, which fights the poverty in the country are 'food allowance banks'. Throughout the country 140 'food allowance banks' are active, from which more than 70 thousand families benefit.
'Food allowance banks' were founded in 2002 by a group of volunteers, who help the aid of wholesalers and big supermarkets reach the needies. Muslim foundations also help the food aid banks from time to time.
