A bomb explosion killed two armed Kurdish fighters Wednesday and wounded one in the Iraqi province of Mosul.
A convoy of Kurdish fighters known as Peshmerga was passing by the town of Tel Keppe 65 km north of Mosul when a roadside bomb was detonated, said Mella Ali from the Peshmerga Ministry of Kurdish autonomous region in northern Iraq.
The wounded fighter was carried to hospital, he said.
Ali noted that Peshmerga help security forces maintain order in Mosul and its environs, and said search for the perpetrators was under way.
Peshmerga have been active in northern Iraq for the better part of the twentieth century. Following decades of conflict with Iraqi forces, the estimated 200,000-strong armed group has assumed greater responsibility for the region’s security.Güncelleme Tarihi: 22 Ağustos 2013, 00:35
