Five people were killed and eight others were wounded in two separate attacks Tuesday in the Iraqi capital of Baghdad, a security source said.

“Two people have been killed and eight others have been wounded in an improvised explosive device blast in Sabaa al-Bour area in northern Baghdad,” the source said.

Also, Iraqi security forces found corpses of three farmers in Twitha area in eastern Baghdad. The bodies had stab wounds in the chest and abdomen, the source added.

Iraq has been gripped by a security vacuum since June, when the Islamic State of Iraq and the Levant group stormed into the northern province of Mosul and declared what it called a caliphate in Iraq and Syria.
