A lieutenant colonel was also reportedly killed in a car bomb explosion in northern Baghdad, which also left two others injured.

There has been security vacuum in Iraq, which has been hit hard by the terrorist group ISIL

The group has seized control of vast swathes of Iraq and Syria despite dozens of airstrikes conducted by U.S.-led coalition forces since August 2014.
