Two people were killed and five others wounded when a bomb went off in front of a furniture shop in eastern al-Iskan region.

In another incident near a teahouse in Diyala region, a bomb explosion killed one and wounded 11 others. 

Officials have yet to issue a statement for the bombing attacks.

Earlier in the day, an improvised explosive device planted into a car exploded in northern as-Saleeh region located in Baghdad, which killed an Iraqi major and wounded his son and nephew.

Another bomb went off in a market place in as-Sayyidiya neighborhood, which left one dead and six others wounded.

No one has claimed responsibility for the attacks.

Iraq has been gripped by a security vacuum since June 2014 when Islamic State of Iraq and the Levant militants stormed the northern province of Mosul and declared what they called a "caliphate" in Iraq and Syria.
