Shi'ite cleric Moqtada al-Sadr returned to Iraq on Wednesday after years of self-imposed exile in Iran, and visited the holy city of Najaf, a Sadrist official said.
Mazan al-Sadi, a cleric in Baghdad, said Sadr had come to visit his father's grave and his former house.
Sadr, whose movement battled U.S. forces after the 2003 U.S.-led invasion, fled Iraq some time in 2006 or 2007 after an arrest warrant was issued for him.
