Nine Iraqis were killed and 12 others injured in a series of attacks on Saturday in the northwestern province of Saladin.

Four members of Sahwa militia were killed and a fifth was injured when an explosive device went off at their patrol in eastern Tikrit, the provincial center of Saladin, a local official told Anadolu Agency.

Meanwhile, four Iraqi policemen were killed and four others injured when a suicide bomber rammed his booby-trapped vehicle into a security checkpoint in southern Tikrit, according to Lt. Col. Omar al-Hayani.

Three policemen, including a captain, were injured when an explosive device exploded at their patrol in Ishaqi town, around 75 kilometers south of Tikrit.

A bombing also targeted the convoy of a senior army officer in the restless eastern Tikrit town of Tuz Khormato, but the officer was not in his car at the time of the bombing.

One soldier was killed and four others were injured in the bombing.

There was no claim of responsibility for Saturday's attacks.
