Two Iraqi soldiers were killed when a suicide bombing struck a security checkpoint in the western city of Fallujah on Saturday, according to a local police officer.
A bomber detonated his explosives-laden vehicle at the checkpoint in the city’s western entrance, police officer Ahmed al-Duleimi told Anadolu Agency.
Two security personnel were injured in the attack, which also caused heavy damage in the area, he said.
No group has yet claimed responsibility for the attack.
Saturday’s bombing comes as Iraqi forces, backed by the U.S.-led coalition, are engaged in a major offensive to capture the northern city from Mosul from ISIL, which overran it along with vast swathes of territory in northern and western Iraq in 2014.Güncelleme Tarihi: 28 Ocak 2017, 11:35
