Ex-MTV presenter slams Malaysia's 'Allah' ban

World Bulletin / News Desk

Kristiane Backer, a former MTV presenter who accepted Islam in 1995, has criticized the Malaysian government for banning Christians from using the name ‘Allah’ to describe God.

Malaysia banned Christians in the country from using the name ‘Allah’ two months ago, probably the first such case in the history of Muslim-Christian relations.

During her visit to Malaysia, the former presenter, who now works as a lecturer, said "You know 'Allah' is an Arabic name for God. It is used in the Arab world by Christians for God...to describe (their) God. So why do we have to complain about that?"

Backer was in Malaysia to speak at the Islamic Information Center on her memoir 'MTV to Mecca: How Islam Inspired My Life.'

Just because Arab christians use Allah it does not means that Arab christians or arab muslims are correct. Arabs bibles are not the original bibles. Arab bibles are only a translation of bible from original language. The bible original languafe does not use Allah. So it is wrong for Arab christians to translating the god in the bible as Allah. They should use the original name of god in bible.
