Aerospace students in Malaysia have been offered a chance to gain a scholarship to study abroad if they managed to memorize the Qur’an.
Encouraging both religious and secular study, the program is a pilot project to produce Muslim scientists in the aerospace field, Terengganu state representative Ahmad Razif Abd Rahman told Bernama news agency on Monday.
“The missing Malaysia Airlines flight MH370 shows that we are short of experts in this field and have to rely on expertise from Western countries,” he added.
Successful students hope to be employed by the Terengganu Science and Creativity Centre (PSKT) after graduation in the given field. University Malaysia Terengganu (UMT) is reportedly dur to prepare a working paper to identify suitable universities abroad.
“I have asked UMT to prepare a working paper on the cost and list suitable universities including from China, Russia and the United States as they are advanced in aerospace. Coincidently, this year UMT has signed an expert in aerospace from the United States. I will appoint him to be adviser to PSKT,” Ahmad Razif Abd Rahman confirmed.Last Mod: 02 Haziran 2014, 16:51
