A Frenchwoman who was ticketed by police for wearing the banned face-veil has been charged a €150 fine and given a one-month suspended sentence for allegedly insulting the police officers who told her to take it off.
Police were later involved in a scuffle with her husband who attempted to protest against the ticketing, which took place in Trappes, a Paris suburb, last year.
Cassandra Belin’s lawyer confirmed the punishment handed to her client.
Last year, the incident triggered riots by Muslims and ethnic minorities living in the area.Güncelleme Tarihi: 08 Ocak 2014, 12:05
