Sabah is ready to ban shisha (waterpipe smoking) as decided by the Fatwa (Edicts) Committee of the National Council for Islamic Affair after considering its health hazard, reported the Star Online
Mufti Sabah, Bungsu Aziz Jaafar said that a decision would be made after the Hari Raya celebrations.
“We will follow if it is required but there might be some changes to suit the situation in Sabah,” he said.
Earlier, Committee chairman Prof Emeritus Tan Sri Dr Abdul Shukor Husin said Muslims were also prohibited from providingshisha- smoking services or any activity associated withshisha.
Minister in the Chief Ministers Department Datuk Mohd Arifin Arif said they would discuss this matter during future meetings.
Sabah is one of the 13 member states of Malaysia, and is its easternmost state.
