300 Turkologists have come together in honour of the Kabardino-Balkaria people in Moscow.

After a 55 year break the first conference that has discussed the Kabardino-Balkaria peoples' history and culture has been held in Moscow.

More than 300 delegates from 16 countries attended the international conference which discussed the the roots of the people along with their history, languages and culture.

Karacay (Kabardino-Balkaria) State University Professor Rustem Begeulov said that the Karacay-Balkar people held an important place. Speaking to the "Caucasus Uzel" agency, one of the conference organisers said, " A conference of this size and a long term project and programme would give impetus to researching wroks that are in the archives and highlight the relevance of the Kabardino-Balkaria history and promote understanding,  not only in Turkey but also to others who live in the region and in the Causcaus about their importance".

The last conference that discussed the Kabardino-Balkaria people was 55 years ago.
